         DESCRIPTION:

The Via Transilvanica spans 1,400 kilometers, crossing Romania from Putna to Drobeta Turnu-Severin and offering a glimpse into over 2,000 years of Transylvanian history.

This trail can be experienced in stages or as a whole, on foot, by bike, or even on horseback, depending on each traveler's preference.

Via Transilvanica unites different geographical regions, historic territories, and cultures, making it an ideal way to discover important aspects of Romania and its people. The trail's diversity is evident, from the verdant grass along the Danube River to the towering mountain peaks, and it's a journey that promises to be as varied and unique as the individuals who embark on it.

Bucovina portion (136 km) of the Via Transilvanica(1 of 7) begins at Putna Monastery, which was constructed by Stephen the Great, the ruler of Moldova, and where he was eventually laid to rest and is considered to be one of the most spectacular of the entire route.

Bucovina serves as a connection in the northern part of the country between two significant regions, Transylvania and Moldova.
